Wrist straps will only work when holding the bow. Had my bow knocked in this weekend when I put it dowm to deal with a fiesty silver wghen it knocked the bow over. Well, it answered one of my questions - a wooden recurve will float even with a reel attached.

So, the easiest solution if you worry about your bow is to spend $25 on an old recurve to use for bowfishing.
