Default First longnose of the year

My son and I went out on Sunday and shot our first longnose of the season. Took them home and had one side of one of them tonight. Tried the Cabela's Cajun fish fry batter and it was tastey!!

Sounds good.
How did you cook/prepare your gar?

It's good to see the young ones enjoying our sport.

I've tried several different ways, but we always go back to slicing them real thin on a bias across the grain and just battering and deep frying. That seems to be our favorite. We always try something different every year like stir fry, or gar balls, etc. though.

Not yet. He likes to go, but he is more into chasing the bugs and critter's along the bank than shooting or fishing.
