quality and fit is great when you have the funds to afford them
but in all honestly , ALL that is needed to gut/field dress a deer is a a sharp blade, be it a razor blade, a pocket knife or a BIG knife that costs thousands
a dead deer doesn't know the difference\ you can buy a BOX of razor blades for a few bucks and have enough blades for a life time of field dressing
as your experience and budget expand down the road, you can THEN buy the better quality knife!
and just a FYI
that little hook on the utility knife like I posted a llink to,. is NOT a GUT Hook, like some mroe specialized blades have
so it won;'t work for that on a deer
when field dressing
the razor will be sticking out below it and cut into things before the HOOK part of it would ever do anything!
Its more for cutting thin wires and likes when doing small chores
Gut hooks are NOT needed to field dress a deer either
yes they can be mice to have, but there NOT needed, and I will GUESS here, that MOST experienced hunters don't even use them, they just stick to using a GOOD sharp knife they have!
and other food for thought for you is
have you considered a FIXED blade knife over folding if that is what you want
as a fixed blade is WAY easier IMO, top keep clean afterwards, and less worry about the blade lock mechanism ever failing!, or willing up with blood and what not's(that are almost impossible to clean out without tearing down knife get into the places it all finds it way into,. and well bacteria can gown in!
another reason Utility knifes work well, easy to take apart and clean, and pop in a NEW sharp blade)

Thanks Elkman
I have watched youttube lots but not the ones you talked about. so i will go look at those today. work is getting busier everyday and I got more tips than normal last night so I now have $42.00 for this and I hope to go to walmart today!
I know im prolly rushing but im also excited to show i have my own stuff and how excited i am to get to go with them.
MisterBB is right about the razors. I would have to spend a whole lot of time to learn to sharpen. but also know a good knife will stay sharp lots, plus my moms bf knows how and could sharpen mine and even teach me.
I'm totally blonde when it comes to online and computers, but if i buy one today i will share a picture of it on here.
thanks all of you for being so awesome

something like this is also a GREAT knife, being bright orange, helps in NOT loosing it, and don;t laugh at that, it happens more than many will admit!
owned a gun shop for yrs and heard many a stories to back things up LOL
and all cold steel knifes have free re sharpening (or they used to)
they make some super sharp and strong knifes IMO and for a very fair price, if your not interested in a utility knife for starters
have a look for this or like one
