Default Sharp enough to shave with in 2 minutes

Buy a bench grinder with a felt polishing wheel. A dab of polishing compound on the felt wheel, hold blade at a 45 degree angle and sweep across wheel with solid pressure. 4-6 passes on each side of blade and it'll be sharp enough to shave hairs off your arm

I like to take my time. I use a Lansky sharpening system followed by a Shrade diamond steel and leather strop. Its not sharp enough until I can pop off individual hairs off my arm. I've had outfitters comment on its keenness and ability to hold an edge when they've used my knife.
