who makes remington ml barrels?
i was wondering who if not remington makes their ml barrels?
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Why do you have a problem?
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
I would venture to say Remington probably makes their own barrels.
Ruger Redhawk |
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
i dont have any problems , as a matter of fact its the other way around . its scary accurate!! its more accurate than i am, i was just curious. i heard it was douglas.

RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
I know what you mean my 700 is very accurate.;)the trigger pull is quite heavy though,so my gunsmith is planning on putting in a shilen trigger and restocking it with a nice laminated stock with a bedded action and free floated barrel. It has a simmons 4-12x44 scope on it.can't wait to how she shoots then.:D

RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Newman, is your 'smith local? I have wanted a laminated stock for my Rem, but no one that I know of makes one. I love the rifle but I hate the stock. Too hollow in the butt area, noisy if it rubs up against something (especially in the cold), and it feels too $#@&%# cold in my hands!
Aimat, I thought Rem made their own barrels. Where did you hear that Douglas made them? My trigger is excellent-about 4.5 lbs with no creep or overtravel. But I bet a Shilen or Timney trigger would be sweet! I hear good/bad things about the Rem 700 MLS. Hard to keep clean; a pain in the tukas to dismantle the bolt; not a great #209 conversion (I agree with that one); rifles are too heavy. But at this stage I would not sell it and buy a new BP rifle for anything. I have killed more whitetails with my Rem 700 MLS than with all my centerfires. I would be comfortable hunting anything in North America with it, with the exception of the great bears. And as long as I had a back-up with a .338 Win Mag I'd use it on a griz or brownie, too! RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
a friend i work with was a machinist and he heard this about douglas , probably just rumor. my trigger is excellent, and if a deer gets inside of 150 yards of me it is in serious danger. and will probably get a free ride in my pickup truck!

|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
No i mean scott;)What is wrong with Steve though?A nd where does he work?
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Well, Scott somehow thinks he's a surgeon and charges more and costs twice as much as a gunsmith outside the Baltimore/Washington area. Also takes about twice as long for the work. Lastly wanted to charge me once 45 dollars to recieve in a handgun. Thats high way robbery. I take mine to Ky, or PA these days.
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
He charged you $45.00 to order one??????????
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
ORIGINAL: newman1 He charged you $45.00 to order one?????????? Likey $45 for FFL transfer fee. Which is robbery. |
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
No, not order one, recieve in one. You can get them done in Hanover, PA for 15 dollars.
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
That sucks[:'(]he does good work and i do not know another good gunsmith around here.where is that place you were talking about?
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
For anyone interested, here is a picture of a one-piece breach plug that goes with the remington conversion sold at cabelas.
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
And what would be the advantage of that baby,or am i just dumb?;)
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
You can go to RA browns in Westminster, Hoods Mills in Carroll. Few others.
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Thank big i'll look into it,im not trying to get ripped;)
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Don't get me wrong, I am sure he is a fine smith. He changed out some parts for me on a pistol long time ago. Just one of the only well known ones between DC and Baltimore.
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Yeah i'll probably use him seeing as his shop is only 5 mins. from my house;)
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
What kind of other things can he do? It is amazing how something gets so popular after it is discontinued. Do you just order a stock for a Rem 700 SA, and have the ram rod channel milled?
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
He has some pretty hot rifles in his shop that he has done.we're not going to put a ramrod "ON" my gun,he is going to drill the butt and hook me up with a callapseable ram rod in the butt using the recoil pad from an AR-15,not the most comfortable to shoot but cool nun the less.He is also going to use the magazine well of the stock and use that as a storage area for a couple of speed loaders;)
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
probably remington
|
RE: who makes remington ml barrels?
Douglas uses the hot button method of rifling, Remington used to use that but has gone to hammer forging. If you look down the outside of the barrel with light at the right angle, you can see what look like waves on a hammer forged barrel. Now the MZ barrels not having to be as tough as smokeless barrels could be button rifled, as I said Remington used to use that method.
