Correct. When you cock the rifle, you are pulling back on the bolt assembly and it remains rearward of the primer until you pull the trigger.
Then the assemby quickly snaps forward and engages/discharges the primer. There are covers (bra's) that you can get to to cover the area when loaded and cocked. |

thanks for the info it is a pretty cool gun but it looks a lot harder to take apart then my savage but i am goin to use it this coming month here on long island
