In loose form 100 grains of Triple Se7en is 15% stronger then 100 grains of Pyrodex. In pellet form, they are equal for all purposes. The real benifit many have with the Triple Se7en is clean up. Personally I use Goex Black Powder. I have not found anything better.

I have always shot pyrodex but just switched to 777. Havent shot it with 777 yet but cant wait. I mostly changed for the fact that the triple 7 cleans up easier and doesnt stink as bad. My gun is sighted in with pyrodex hopefully it wont make any diffrence in accuracy going to the triple 7.

777 can be difficult to clean if it makes the "crud ring" in your rifle. It makes a bad crud ring in my stainless Omega and consequently I no longer use 777. I found Black Mag3 and am completelly satisfied with its for performance. It is cleaner than 777, makes higher velocity on a volume measurement compared with ffg 777. Recoil is more manageable with BM3 as the 777 makes a sharp recoil that hurts. Black Mag3 pushes like black powder but still makes higher velocity. Black Mag3 is so clean the patches come out slightly gray and it is not necessary to swab between shots in fact they recommend that you do not.

Keith
Have you experienced any of this Black Mag 3 "jug-swelling" with yours?
It supposedly releases gases time-to-time. I'm just wondering if those gases being dispersed are having any effect on energy/velocity over a period of time. Just wondering if the three year-old Black Mag-3 of 2007 will still be as strong as the 2004 powder purchased -- after opening the jug and releasing gas into the atmosphere 4-5 times.

Unfortunately you generally have to order if from Midsouth Shooters Supply or one of the other mail order houses. I think the best way is to get with some others and order several pounds as they tag a $20.00 hazmat fee on the order so with several pounds the cost per pound is not so great. It is a little expensive but I find the results are well worth the extra cost. 777 was a nightmare in my rifle and Pyrodex works well but is real dirty. Real black powder is not much worse than Pyrodex. Black Mag3 gives me higher velocity, less felt recoil, cleaner shots, multiple shots without a swab between, accuracy without a swab between shots, and is supposed to be non-corrosive and able to recover from exposure to moisture. In my book I can't overlook those characteristics.
