RE: First BP deer YEE HAWWWWW
My first was in 1995 with a $50 CVA Bobcat from 90 yards! She was a big enough doe - plenty of target I guess for that old iron-siter. It had snowed in the morning and she came wanderin' in takin' her dogone time (like all you ladies do, but we love ya). She turned broadside and I had a narrow lane and pulled on the trigger. When the smoke cleared she was still standing there trying to figure out where that huge noise came from and what to do next. Must 'a' jerked it.
I quietly shoved more stuff down the front loader and capped her up again. I rested against the tree ('bout 15 ft up) and waited. She stepped gingerly back into my shooting lane and I fired off another #11. I saw her take off to my right, tail down and hunched up, like they do when they are hit hard. From 90 yards I took out my binocs and could see the crimson trail she left behind.
When I got to her tracks, she had not gone far. She went about 30 yards and crumpled up against a tree.
That was nine years and 8 ML deer ago. I love this stuff. I still take that old smoke pole for a walk once in a while. Clean her right, and feed her right and she goes off every time...
Just remember, if you don't hunt you can't tell the story.
You'll always remember that one. Others are coming that you can afford to forget after the freezer has been emptied.
