powerbelt or maxiball?

Which will work better??? The only way you will be able to tell is to buy some of each and shoot them. A few things you might want to keep in mind, powerbelts do not like strong powder charges for the most part. Keep the charge around 100 grains of FFg or less. Also remove the plastic button off of them and grease the lead spike of the conical then replace the button. This will help them shed the thing faster after shooting it. Maxiballs need to be lubed if you buy them from someplace other then Thompson Center. Black Jack Hill on line sells them and they are excellent to do business with. Get some bore butter while your at it if you order them them (Bill and Judy).
Sabots are also a good choice for your rifle. Stick with the name brands for now until you can work up a load, such as Thompson Center Shockwaves and Mag Express XTP's and cheap shots.... They usually give excellent accuracy and good knock down.
Good luck with your rifle..

Odds are sabot/bullets will work best in that gun at 100 yards... followed by Powerbelts then Maxiballs. Try T/C-packaged sabot/bullets in 240 or 250 grain. With Powerbelts, the first one I'd buy for your gun would be the 295s. With Maxis... buy either 320s or 350s.
Buy the CVA Breechplug & Nipple Grease. Hand-tighten - then re-loosen & re-hand tighten every several shots with hot 777 powders that can seize the plug.... otherwise just check it occasionally with Pyrodex

When I got into the inline game, I used maxi's for years, cause I had trouble changing habits. But its not ideal with inlines in my opinion. It does like stiff loads. And it won't stay put in my inline. Some bores it might. If you lower and raise your gun out of yourstand with the muzzle down, I have seen the maxi move to the top of the bore. That means it can't stay seated all the way against the powder well. I heard some patching it. But gave up and used sabots in the past 4 years.
