i am shooting 250 gr SST/ML bullets this year becuase they shot the best through my gun. i shot a doe with it last year and didn't have a complete pass through. i didn't know if this was common or once in awhile thing.

That sounds like a "just one of those things".................. the 250SST should usually give you a pass-thru unless you hit some serious bone or else used too light of a powder charge (less than 70gr).
Personally, I like to use heavier bullets - at least 300gr. Typically I've used 350gr or more in the past and have never had an animal take a step after being hit.........hard to argue with success.

I am using the T/C Shockwave 200 grainers in my Omega .50 this fall. You can't go wrong with Shockwave/SST's in 250 grain either. Both bullets shoot under an inch out of my gun. Hope to put them to the real test next month on a Missouri whitetail!
