I need a little help finding a place to buy English Flints for my T/C Firestorm. I need to buy some of these because the generic ones from T/C don't work. I did a test a few days ago and got 10 shots out of the T/C's before it was dull. When I tried a English one that my uncle gave me I have 25 shots so far and it still looks great. I would like to buy them online so any suggestions would be great. Also has anybody noticed a difference between the generic flints T/C sells and the ones that are labeled "premium." I haven't tried those yet so are those any better. I guess what I am really asking for is any info you can give me on flints.

ebay has tons....you might not get great flints in all the ones you buy(most sell like 10+) but id bet youd get enough good ones to make it worth it.....also try rmc sports...i orderd a pack of 4 from them before...and they were all good....just too long for my rifle....im lucky to have 3 blackpowder shops around here and i get to hand pick mine out of 100s....i have a tc hawken flinter...ive tried every kind of flint i could find and the only one to throw good sparks are the black english....i even spent a few bucks and bought german fancy special flint...i cant remember the name...its german something....its cut like the tc ones you bought and told it was the best flint there is....its tough as can be and didnt chip at all or dull.....but it didnt throw as good of a spark as the english....close...but not close enough......i did like the fact that it didnt chip or dull in probably 15-20 dry fires......but now that i got a good frizzen on my lock flintlife went up also...i can get about 30 out of a black english easyily.....and could resharpen it if i wanted....but try searching the net...ebay..ect you can find them on the net easyily.....ive found lots....but thats before i found all the shops that have them around here.....speaking of that i better go soon and stock up before the weekend warriors that barely hunt or shoot their rifles go and take the good ones....and stock up on BP before they get there too! lol.....good luck

Track of the Wolf has all the English flints you will ever need. Those are the only flints I use.

I usually get my english flints at my local hardware store, or Gander Mountain, or local Gun shop. All have these type of flints. Are you anywhere near a place like this where you could but them? I usually buy a new set of flints just before the new season. I also use the older flints for practice at the range. They work great and is all I use. I just received Cabela's shooting guide, but they did not have the english flints in the guide.

I've been slowly aquiring supplies and equipment. I'm new to blackpowder and just bought a pack of TC agate flints. I don't know what that means but it says "premium" on the package and they were a little more money, so they must be better, right? I got them at Walmart. I can't understand why anyone would buy the cheaper ones because they were only a dollar something more for a pack of three and they look so much more consistant and sharp.

The english flints are good for some files while the agates other.

I find the englich flints the best for my rifle, and my setup. The agates, don't work well for me.

If you find that you are getting misfires, no spark, that you also might want to try the english flint.

Thanks you guys, any other site will be great. Gotta find the best price you know. Also when the give different measurements is it for the width or the length (ie. 1/2 5/8 3/4 7/8)?

All my Flintlocks are TC Hawkens, same lock as the TC Firestorm.

Agate flints are expensive, almost impossible to sharpen, and don't last very long...I've tried TC's regular, TC's premium, Arkansas agate flints, etc, then tried some black english flints and threw the agates away.

I shoot every Saturday and average 40-60 shots per flint in my TC Hawkens...using the same flint for an entire 40 shot range session...either lightly knapping it or flipping it over about every 10 shots to keep 100% reliable ignition.

October Country has the best price for Tom Fuller black english flints...you order the size flint by wide of the frizzen face, for TC locks, 3/4" black english flints are outstanding.
Bulk bags of 25/50/100 3/4" flints from October Country cost approximately .75 cents each...speak to John or Linda, tell them a guy from North Carolina recommended them
