Default SST's

I have tried both the SST's in 250gr and 300gr and can't get either to shoot under 3.5" groups at 100 yards with pyrodex, or 777 from 90gr to 150gr. But everyone else and all I have read seems to be getting great accuracy. This is out of two different muzzleloaders that shoots 250gr Barnes and 240gr XTP 2" groups at 100 yards. I can't figure it out. I am using the special attachment that is made for the powerbelts too.

WOW.. they shoot great for me. I really do not know what to tell you. Are you shooting T/C shockwaves or Hornady SST's? Granted they are the same thing. What I am getting at is, what sabots are you shooting? I have the best luck with T/C mag express sabots. If I shoot them out of MMP the accuracy is not as good.

All I could tell you is to try some of the different sabots with them....

good luck

They are the MMP's. Might look into a different sabot.

I have tried them, with mixed results.Ive since switched over to Buffalo SSB, 325 Grain, ahead of 95 Grains of T-7 ffg, and have Fired these offerings into a 4 Shot one Hole Group, that just barely comes in under 1/2" MOA at 100 yards. This is out of a Knight Elite, with a Lightened Trigger and Good Optics. My Knight Loves them!

Haven't bested this yet, but they are avg, 3/4" -1" consistently

Try a different sabot , I shoot the hornady 250 grain with a Knight sabot with 2 - 50 grain 777 pellets . I get 2" groups at 90 yards.

That is the same thing that I found out shooting a Black Diamond XR. The thinner petaled T/C Mag Express sabots shoot much more consistently than the MMP's that come w/ the SST's. I was able to get a 3 shot group @ 100yds. last week that measured .550" center to center using the SST/Mag Express combination.

Hidden Hunter... There might be something to those Buffalo SSB's. I have read a number of post now that recommend them. I have never tried them. Where do you buy them at? I have a Knight I would like to give them a shot with.....

thanks

You might try dropping your powder load a little more. My Knight gets great results with the 300gr SSTs using 80gr of 2fg 777.

I agree with Mark about dropping the powder charge. I'm getting 3/4" groups at 100 yards with the 300 grain Shockwave and 80 grains of 777. 777 is 15% hotter then Pyrodex so going to 80 grains is what... 90-95 grain . My math stinks

Well, there might be something too that dropping the powder load. Just so many powders and combos to try, its hard to try them all.
