Want a BP rifle, what should I get
I have a few extra bucks to spend, and I am wanting a Black Powder rifle. Which one should I get for whitetail. Cabelas offers a lot of varieties. Any info would be apprciated. Thanks, FD The simplest-easiest one there is.

depends on what you
want.flintlock,caplock,or inline!!!
bass-pro has the CVA mag-bolt 150 in 45 cal on sale.you get every thing you need to hunt except the caps and powder.
you get the scope also.
I have two of these and they are great guns for the money.
the total package is $199.99.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

If you're wanting simple & easy - then the in-line models are definitely the way to go.
The CVA tree climber mentions is a good choice, as are any of the Knight models. I prefer the Knight models, but that is just because I'm used to them and have had excellent results with them.......and their customer service is top notch too.

Trust God..........but keep your powder dry!

RE: Want a BP rifle, what should I get
I decided to try it this year and got a CVA firebolt magnum in 50 cal. It is the highest end gun CVA makes. I put a 3-9x Tasco world class scope on it, bought the bullets and such and a sling and still came away with much less than $500. After shooting it, I'd say it was the best money I spent this year. After witnessing the accuracy and ease of use of this gun (and several other CVA guns that friends own) I would say check out these guns.
A word of caution for any purchase you make, check the regs in your hunting area to see what ignition source is legal (209 primer vs #11 primer, etc)
Good luck!!!

Fatdave There are so many different makes and models it's hard to say which one to recommend. If I were looking to buy a Traditional ML I would get a T/C or the Lyman. For inlines. I have a Knight Disc and love it. The Ruger 77/50 and Savage 10ML are also top nock inlines. You can get much better prices checking different Shooter suppliers, then Cabelas and Bass Pro. Get a Lyman Great Plains flintlock in .54 caliber, and shoot round balls. Up to 100 yards, this will kill any game outside of Africa, and most of it there, too!! If you master this, go for other muzzleloaders later!!
