Default 209 x 50 encore loads

Anyone done any testing with different loads and bullets..I have done limited testing and just looking to save some time..maybe.
Looking for a 200 yard group, 150 grain ? for Elk & Mulies

Has anyone ever cut the factory pyrodex 50 grain loads down?

Have never tried to cut one down but hodgdon said that you can mix powder with pellets as long a the pellet goes in first. I have tried it with one pellet and 30 grns. Pyro and it works for a range load, don't know about hunting with it .

They also make 30 grain pellets, and maybe even 25 grain pellets. No need to cut them down at all.

PErsonally, I use the loose pyrodex so I can customize the loads a little more.

I use 90 grains of pyrodex and the 295 grain powerbelts hollow tip copper bullets. I can get a 1" grouping out of them at 100 yards. Since I am shooting open sights, I have never even tried any shots longer than 100 yards. My eyes just can't handle that long of a shot without a scope.

I currently shoot two 777 50 grain pellets behind a Hornady SST sabot with good results out to 125 yards. T/C says you can load 3 50 grain 777 pellets and I have done so,,,but it knocks the snot out of you. I'd have to practice a bunch more to try a two hundred yard shot with mine. I've seen it done on TV but believe very little of what I find there.[8D] Give this load a try. Do you have Dental insurance? Cause it's going to loosen some fillings.

I have encountered posts from (2) forum members esewhere. Both were different Encore shooters who have harvested deer at 200+ yards using (3) Pyrodex 50-pellets with T/C Shockwave 250 grains and/or Hornady SSTs 250 grains.

With my Encore 50 cal. this past white tail season. I harvested eight deer, three of these were shot at 200+ yds. The load was two 50 gr. and one 30gr. Pyrodex pellets, Hornady 250gr. SST and a Remington 209-4 primer. At 200yds. this rifle and load shoot sub 4" groups. Good luck with your shooting. TTT seven watts with the Gray Beard boycott.
