? for T/C Omega Owners

Could any Omega owners give me some bullet and powder charge combinations that have worked well for you? I'm getting ready to shoot my new Omega and I'd like to know if you have found anything your gun really likes or dislikes. I do know I will be shooting 777 loose powder but I'm not sure what bullet I will go with. I'm open to any suggestions.

One other quick question: If you have scoped your Omega, what bases and rings did you use?

Dear VAhuntr
I bought a new TC Omega .45 caliber last September and I love it. I worked up one load using 105 grains of 777 and the Dead Center .357 175 grain sabot that measured .5 inches for a 3 shot group at 100 yards. I tried a number of other Precision Rifle bullets with 1 to 2 and 1/2 in groups. For more details see my web site at bpbullets.com. Here is a photo of the 1/2 inch group.

I don't have an Omega but I have a Black Diamond XR which is the same barrel more or less. Mine is scoped just so you know. I have only had mine a short time. Off shooting sticks at 50 yards, shooting .44 caliber 250 grain T/C shockwaves this rifle will make a large hole. I was shooting 100 grains of loose Triple Se7en powder. Actually other then powerbelts, this rifle shoots almost anything really well.....:D

Thanks OLDSNOW, good luck with them. Unlike almost all others in the business, I sell these bullets and only these bullets, because I happen to believe they are the best at what they do, if I didn't believe this, I would sell SST's, Powerbelts and others also. I am not appologizing for sharing a good thing with anyone. I shot a lot of different bullets before using these. When I found that no one carried them near where I live, I decided to do something about that. I recieve email every day thanking me for the information I offer on my site and for introducing them to a wonderful bullet. I can not take the credit for making them though. That goes to a man in Canada named Cecil Epp. I am thankful to Cecil for making them and for the education I got from his web site about Muzzleloading. Muzzleloading is all about learning and experimenting and sharing your experiences. Most of the information on my site comes from shooter like yourself. I use my site as a means of sharing that information and if I could afford to give these bullets away, I would.

After shooting countless Powerbelts and other types and stles of bullets; my Omega shoots quarter sized shot groups at 100 yards with:

90 grains T777 -and- 250 grain Precision Rifle QT Spitzers

I'm going to try the 250 grain Keith Nose hollow points from them next.

Go to www.prbullet.com and check them out. They know their bullets and what will work with your Omega. ;)

Kindest Regards,

-Will in Maryland

The bullets willtill is talking about are made by Cecil Epps, He is the one I mentioned and where I get mine from. They are also the bullets I recommended. He is the one that I learned so much from. It is more than just what kind of group you can get at 100 yards, although that is important. It is what kind of group you can get at 200 yards and what kind of performance you can get on soft skinned animals like deer. These bullets pass that test with flying colors. Don't buy them from me. Get them from Cecil less I offend anyone!

Thanks for the information.

bpbullets, I was planning on trying some of the Dead Center bullets after reading about them on Chuck Hawks website. To me they seem to be priced about the same as Powerbelts, even including shipping. Your site has a lot of useful information on it....thanks for the link!

:D Well I have to report, I bought some Precision Bullet .44 caliber 300 grain Silver Lightening poly tips (green tips). I loaded 100 grains of Triple Se7en under them and the groups I shot out of the T/C Black Diamond XR were fantastic. No other way to describe the way they shot. I also shot them out of the Staghorn with excellent results also.

I think these bullets would take almost anything in North America. They loaded fine. Their only draw back is their cost. I still will get some more for hunting later in the year. In the mean time I will shoot all the other loads out. I also have my sidelocks and the cast bullets I make to punch holes in paper.... :)
