RE: anbody have any info on "cheap" muzzleloaders??
Firstly, the telescopic ramrod is flimsy and if not used carefully - breaks. A good range rod takes care of that one.
2nd, and not a real design problem but a nuisance, is the height of the hammer design. Makes scoping the rifle a pain requiring careful mount and scope selection. The hammer extension and scope base from HR1871 makes that problem a bit easier to manage - but that hammer should be re-designed. 3rd - the factory sights are of a synthetic and look good but they are not at all durable, often breaking or adjustment screws stripping. 4th - the breech plug and especially the TOOL for same are of poor design IMHO. The forums will show you several simple ways to deal with that problem. A breech plug that required no plastic carrier and utilized a socket for removal would be more sensible. BUT, I think it's an excellent rifle with most reporting very good accuracy from a wide variety of load types. The problems I've noted are all things the owner can either adjust for or solve completely. Suffer through reading THIS! :D |
