worrying to much?

Default worrying to much?

i been shoting and cleaning my flintlock and been noticing that its hard as heck to get the breech area clean....where the charge sits.....i have a scrapper but it never seems to do much....and my brush been helping but i cant see in there to see how good its cleaned....i clean with warm water and tc no. 13 cleaner....does that nuetralize the BP or no? any advice on getting that clean or making sure its clean?? i dump a bunch of solvent down there and let it soak then take the bore brush in there.....thats the only thing that reaches down there.....but still doesnt get the far back....thanx....just wondering....

NO!!! NOTHING NEUTRALIZES BP FOULING!! IT HAS TO BE REMOVED!! Otherwise, it'll attract moisture and cause rusting!! I clean my filntlock by pouring two quarts of boiling water through it and let the water run out through the touchhole liner hole (a 1/4" threaded hole). Then I wrap a G.I cleaning patch over the end of a breechplug scraper head on my cleaning rod, and rotate it around on the face of the breech plug. I do this with three or four clean patches, until one come out clean and dry. Then I put another one on the scraper end, oil it, and oil the face of the breechplug before I put the touchhole liner back in.
