If you are looking at the Nikon pro-staff 4x, read carefully. Most of the 4x are for rimfire guns only.

I've shot my muzzel loader with a 4x simmons shotgun scope and a 2x7 lepole varyx2 both worked great .

I put a 3-9x scope on my Omega. I tightened it down where it seemed comfortable to me, and it works fine. But, to get the lens caps on and off, I had to remove the rear sight. See through mounts would have been better for me in hind sight.

i would suggest a leupold rifleman either in 3-9 or 2-7, i think they are around $150-200. i would also suggest the leupold quick release bases and rings so depending on where you're hunting you can remove the scope and use open sights.

ever since i bought my first leupold i'm hooked. i never realized how obvious the difference in scopes is when you're looking through them ...especially in low light conditions.

Jroot,

I couldn't agree with you more. It amazes me that some guys compare the Leupolds to a lot of the cheaper scopes. My deer party consists of 17 different hunters and we all sight in together at a private range. The Leupolds are always true from year to year and many of the others have to be re-zero'd. I would wonder where they lost there zero, was it on the way to the hunt, in the woods, on the way home etc.. I guess I just want to be sure my scope is where it should be.

I know there are other scopes on the market and some may be just as good. I screwed up and tried a Bushnell red dot. It has been at Bushnell since the day after I received it from Midway. The wanted me to pay $10.00 each way for shipping to have it fixed. I complained and they finally waived the fees. Apparently they are shipping me a new one this week. If any Bushnell people would like to buy a three week old scope cheap let me know. It's the 4 in 1 in the Cabela's catalog for 109.00. I am asking $70.00 for mine and buying a Leupold red dot.
When I bought the Bushnell I didn't know Leupold made a red dot, my mistake.
They promised the one they aare shipping is factory new and not mine repaired. I'm glad they have a lifetime warranty on those.
