RE: SST AT 200 YDS
Am I reading this right ? You guys are shooting smokeless powder in your muzzleloaders? I have the Savage ML11 made to use smokeless but didn't know you could SAFETLY use it in all MZ's

RE: SST AT 200 YDS
If I were you I would only use the smokless in the Savage only. When the manufactors state that their guns are only for Black powder and the subs, and this guy from Canada tells you to go ahead and use the smokless in it because they are made of mild steel and it is safe, sure leaves hisself open to law suits when someone gets hurt from doing it.
Maybe they don't have lawsuits in Canada??? |
RE: SST AT 200 YDS
I'm rather new to this in-line, pellet, sabot thing but don't think I'll stretch my shots that far. I recently bought a T/C Encore 209X50. I had the T/C Hawkin Hunter scope put on it and shoot two pellets of 777 behind the 250 grain SST. This combination will put the slug into a tennis ball on every shot @ 100 yards. And yep, like someone said in another post, they can sometimes be hard to ram down the barrel.:(
This ain't nothin like the old cap and ball Hawkins I shot 25 years ago.:D I also ain't putting any smokeless down the barrel of this rifle.[:o] Finally, I broke down and bought a solid aluminum range rod and a sabot seater to fit on it. (You can get them from Cabelas). This helps during those extended shooting sessions. |
