Black powder Christmas present
Before I start, I need to say that I know what you all are thinking. We talked on the forum about the blunderbuss kit. I actually chose to steer away from buying it because I was told it was a “novelty gun.”
Well, my dad didn’t know about this conversation, and he got me a percussion blunderbuss kit for Christmas. For those who do not know, here’s a link to it.

Oh well. I have it now, so I might as well build it and use it.
Still, it will be fun building this with my dad. I bet I’ll have a good time with him building it and shooting it.

My thoughts exactly. Not only am I building a gun, I’m building good memories, just like you guys said.
Still, I wonder if I can use this for partridge, quail, and rabbit hunting. It’s something for me to think about.
Maybe I’ll try it next season. It’s probably gonna take some time to get used to anyway.

I got my first black powder kill with the blunderbuss today. A red squirrel.

Actually, only two balls hit it. The shot spread so quickly, that at 40 yards, only two balls hit the squirrel. A lot of meat left over, actually.
And this was with 80 grains of #6 shot and 80 grains of Pyrodex. Volume measurements. I also had an over powder wad and an over shot wad.
By the way, is there a problem with the photo uploading part of the forum? I’m having problems uploading photos. Every time I try to upload a photo for a post, it says there was an error in processing the photo. I don’t know what the problem is.
It’s a shame, because I want to show you guys the shot groups and the squirrel.

idahoron i’m going to send you some pictures through my phone, could you please post them here? I’m having problems uploading photos.
