Default Patterning muzzleloading shotguns for turkey.

Long time ago at Turkey camp. 30 yrs to be exact. I took all the learning about Wild turkeys I was taught by my mentor, scouted a ton and headed out on my own hoping to 'smoke' my 3rd ever wild turkey with my great grand daddies black powder side by side which bores close to a 16 ga.

Well I had done my homework. Called in 2 Tom's of which one jumped my decoy and rode like one of those kiddy playground spring horses you see
When he fell off his rocking decoy. The bigger Tom stuck his head up and BOOOOM!
However
The following year I bought a Pedriselli 10 Ga which I wounded one huge Turkey that got away. Man I was ticked. Quit drinking beer for a whole yr as penance!

But I put the black powder shotgun away. I did dabble with it for upland. Loved x-country skiing with my wirehair.
It's now 30 yrs later. About time I get off my duff and really pattern all my shotguns.
And that I did.
My shoulder can tell you that. I've been working on powder vs shot vs wad combinations trying to get a consistent pattern.
First up was the Pedroselli 10 ga. I believe it us IC and Mod. Chromed barrels no choke.
Right takes 95 gr BP, 1/8 THIN over the powder card followed by a 1/2 lubes felt wad, 1 7/8 oz copper plated shot, followed another 1/8th thin over the **** card.
Powder is tamped tight.
Shot card just snug.

25 yds
Boom

At 3 yds pattern isn't an issue. Correct aim is! Lol.

I used my great grandfathers muzzleloading shotgun.

Used this same firearm 30 yrs ago to the day. Shot my 3rd turkey with it and I was solo. I had been mentored the two yrs prior.
And I also used Pryodex which was 30 yrs old too.
it either was going to go Boom or pffffft!

Boom it was.

Took the top of his head off.

Now to clean that shotgun, oil it lightly and put it back in the safe.

Next up Pedroselli 10 sxs or the White Tominator. Decisions.
