I have a question I need help with. So I found this site and thought to try and ask it here. My wife got me a Traditions Kentucky Long Rifle Flintlock kit for Christmas 2018. I have successfully test assembled it and found one little spring left over and two small rods left over. My main question is what about this Ramrod Retention Spring? I have found a picture of it on the internet, but there is Nothing about it in these Inadequate instructions that come with the kit. So where does this retention spring go? Also there are two small rods left over, where do they go? Also does these little square clips that go on the bottom of the barrel really hold the barrel and stock together? How is that possible? Does these two small rods hook to these two small square clips somehow? A lot of questions are unanswered in these totally Inadequate assembly instructions that come with the kit. Can anybody set me straight with these questions?

Ramrod retention spring goes approx. 1/2 way down the barrel length on the bottom of the barrel, so when you insert the ramrod under the barrel the spring applies tension to it holding it in place. without pictures I can't tell you about the other parts.

The ramrod spring goes under the barrel - the forward lock screw goes thru the loop. The two small rods (pins) are to help align the brass spacer plate between the front and rear stock halves. I have built several of these, only one I kept for myself was flintlock.

Yes, the thin pins do secure the barrel onto the forestock and they would need to be properly aligned with the holes in the barrel tenons.
I am not sure of the exact location for the ramrod spring, perhaps there's a slotted cut out for it somewhere inside the forestock?
I think that part of it should rest against the barrel and the other part places tension on the ramrod.

Their sidelock rifles are pretty much grouped together and show the general location of the ramrod spring.

You can always call Traditions and ask to speak to one of their service technicians if you're not sure how to proceed.
Or send them an email and see if they reply.
Generally they are helpful and may be able to provide you with personalized oral or written instructions regarding the location of the ramrod spring and how it's affixed.
It could have been placed in the kit by mistake for all I know [but I doubt that].
The Chiappa Kentucky schematic doesn't show any ramrod spring either.
Some ramrod springs affix to the barrel while others are affixed & pivot on a pin or screw, and I don't know what shape or style yours is.
That would also help determine where it should be located, if it's needed at all.
