I have two questions. And by the way your setup does look really good.

1- Why do you mount your scope so high off the barrel.

2- Why are your targets always so ugly? why dont you use cardboard or chipboard behind your targets? Your holes never look good and it doesnt really show actual group size and bullet stability when your just ripping paper. Just curious?

I'm using the identical Mark 4 mount and rings as used on the VX6. The NF scope profile is somehow smaller than the VX6, even though both are 50mm. If you look at the photo with the VX6, you'll see its much closer to the barrel than the NF. I didn't expect that at all. I might be able to drop down to medium, but sticking another small fortune into rings after spending 2k on the NF, might just push the CFO over the edge, which would mean I'd get pushed down and made to eat dirt, again. After the check comes from Leupold it might be different. Although it appears real high off the barrel in the photo, its actually only about 1/4".

As far as a backer, I shoot so much I just wear them out, along with the pieces of OSB I use to hold the targets. I move the targets from one location to another and once the board is shot in 1/2, I just wire up a new one. I've put cardboard behind them in the past, but honestly, I'm probably to darn lazy to look for more pieces.

Forgot too...... at the club they use huge conveyor belts on for backstops. They end up with thousands of staples in them, which makes using cardboard almost impossible to attach.

Still thinking....... its also connected to the very thin target paper. Other thicker targets do not do that.
I don't have much here in the boonies. It takes me 2 hours to reach a 4 lane road.
