Default Going hunting afterall!

Thanks to Pete, letting me know that the left over license list was available, I found an OTC bear tag for my hunting unit! They had ONE left and by golly, I got it!

Now they have a couple buck tags left over, but you can not get them until Aug 2nd by showing up at the store and hoping you get to them first.

Just going to use that new Percussion Hawken Woodsman with her normal load of 80gr JSG, .490" round ball and .015" patch. She shoots nice and tight with 80gr. Not bad with 90, but that 80gr is the real sweet spot.

I took 3 shots with my normal 80gr load and 2 with 90gr. Didn't take long to figure out which shot best.

that load should make for an interesting bear hunt. I hunted bear with a .54 caliber shooting 90 grains and a round ball. And let me tell you, I was in a ground blind and had a mother sow and two cubs not 10 yards away at one point. And I was kind of nervous.

The next time out, I still had the same load but also had a .44 magnum Ruger Redhawk on me. It just made me feel better. Good luck with your hunt!

Hey MD you should have fired that 3rd ball with the 90 grs. It may have went right between the other 2???
Me, I'll be using my .58 for bear again this fall.
