Default Affordable light weight fast twist 45

The CVA Scout V2 45/70 can easily be converted and far easier to find than the Apex 45/70 atm. Ive heard these can be found for around $325 or a little more. Add the cost of the least expensive Savage plug with labor and you are in at around $500 total.

• 416 Stainless Steel
22” Standard Fluted Barrels (its actually a 25" with muzzle break)
1:20” Twist
• 100% Ambidextrous Stocks
• CrushZone® Recoil Pad
• DuraSight® DEAD-ON One-Piece Scope Mount
• Reversible Hammer Spur
5.8 lbs. Total Weight
• 38” Overall Length
• 14” Length of Pull
• Alternate Length Stocks Available for Up or Down Sizing
• Lifetime Warranty
• SCOPE NOT INCLUDED

Luke at Arrowhead and Hankins sell a smaller 9/16 OD rear sealing breach plug just for such conversions or you can use a Savage type breach plug with a tungsten bushing or vent liner.

What might be even cheaper is having Hoyt bore out/line your current inline or one thats a spare and have him do a .45cal with 1:20 twist and rifling depth that you ask for.

I may have him do a 40cal in a 1-16 twist using a Elite 45 barrel im not using atm. 40cal is legal here for deer and them big 40cal conicals fly purty darn good too.

BTW im assuming the Scout V2 muzzle break is part of the barrel and wont just unscrew. Its not that big of a deal sabotless but it could have issues with sabots.

Never realized they put a muzzle break on it? I had one in 243 which was a ton of fun but my nephew never used it much. The MB might be something new they added.

It appears last years Scout V2 45/70 had no muzzle brake. Someone on Dougs just bought one and his is a 25" without a brake. Same part# too.

EDIT:
Carlos just posted the new 2016 model has a removable muzzle brake. He has a few heading his way.
