Modern Inline - Choose an Action Type

We are talking Inline Muzzloaders only. They will all be able to shoot BH209 right out of the box. The rifle would incorporate the modern mechanics of the time.

The 50cals would have a 1/24 twist to satisfy the full bore bullets and sabots alike. The 45'S would have a 1/20 twist, here again good for full bore bullets and sabots. I should also mention these are hunting rifles.

1-A bolt action

2-A break open

3-A falling block similar to the T/C Omega

Break open.

quigleysharps4570 01-25-2016 07:33 AM

I went with break-open.

Slowburn 01-25-2016 11:44 AM

I go with the bolt action. Like my knights but I do have one custom built breakaction with a Ed Rayl barrel.

Break open of those three choices.. I like my plunger Whites just as much!!

Bolt, then drop action, then break action for me.

super_hunt54 01-25-2016 07:07 PM

I just have experience with my TC PH and it has served me extremely well. Shoots just as good, if not better than, a lot of my centerfire rifles. On a good day when I am feeling my oats (and them days come fewer and fewer at my age) I can put 5 in under an inch at 150. Can't really ask any better of a MLer than that! So yep, I picked break action. But I tell ya what, I sure would like to lay hands on a 1:24 twist .50cal barrel just for some giggles! I think that would open up a lot of doors for some better BC bullet options.

Break-action - then fall-action - then bolt-action.

lemoyne 01-26-2016 06:10 AM

Break action for me.
Drop action is awkward for me.
Bolts that I have had did not have locking lugs so no added safety factor just a lot of wasted space and weight.

cayugad 01-26-2016 06:45 AM

I really like the Optima action break open.

t.shaffer 01-26-2016 06:50 AM

i vote for break opens love my t/c s especially the triumphs & bone collectors & even the impacts & then i would go with a thumbhole omega

bronko22000 01-26-2016 07:33 AM

I like the break open action. Seems at least for me the easiest to prime, disassemble and clean. But that's my opinion. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

super_hunt54 01-26-2016 10:30 AM

The easier cleaning part I could care less about. It's the ease of priming that tops things for me. They are all easy to clean in my book. Some may take an extra minute than the other but again, they are all easily cleaned. I just don't want something that I have to carry a priming tool around just to load the dang thing.

Rather a bolt. More accurate at long range.

Those would be a falling block or drop action, not a break action.
I like those too. Had good luck with Omega.

Not. Triumphs and Impacts are break open rifles. Omega and KRB7 are drop/falling/rolling block rifles.

Yeah you are right, I was thinking about the trigger housing dropping on triumph in my mind. Brain fart :rolleye0011:

Muley Hunter 01-27-2016 05:21 AM

Are brain farts smelly?

Semisane 01-27-2016 06:58 AM

Not if you keep your fingers in your ears.
