CVA breech plug question
My old CVA Accura wasnt BH209 compatible. Is the new CVA MR BH209 compatible out of the box?
|
Not sure what you're asking?
The BH 209 BP, or Western BH 209 BP fits all the CVA guns that have the finger removed BP. |
i doubt it i just bought a v2 and it came with just a plug for pellet use so i had to buy a bh209 plug kit from western powders.

No. Supposedly you must purchase the BH209 BP to reliably do so.

It can shoot it with no mods, except setting the headspace. You also must use the hottest primer, and keep the flame channel spotless. The 2nd way is to drill out the flame channel, but that wouldn't be out of the box. The bottom line is the less you do the more critical it is to have everything perfect for every shoot. The BH 209 BP is for those who don't want to be perfect every time. It's much more forgiving. btw The old Accura V2 was my first inline, and that was long before the BH 209 BP, and I shot BH 209 with a bone stock BP with no problems. |
same here, my brothers v2 that i gave to him was shot with bh209 long before the bh209 plug came out.

You boys crack me up. Muley, please allow me to remind you......you sent me your breech plug, along with dinero, to have it modified to reliably ignite Blackhorn. Devil, please allow me to remind you........you modified your breech plug so it would more reliably ignite Blackhorn. Your trick was to enlarge the flash hole. Also, please let me remind you, that you have never paid me for the breech plug you have, that i made. Interestingly, you are the only person that has ever ripped me off, when sent a breech plug. |

i am not saying this out of experience or absolute knowledge but in my own personal opinion i would much rather have the bh209bp breech plug in place.the bh209bp allows the loose powder charge to get much closer to the primer i would think that it would allow for quicker and more consistent ignition of the powder charge ? i wouldn't think that they would go thru the trouble or expense of making the bh209bp if they didn't think there was a valid reason for it ?
