Did you leave something out of the story?

Was he using a .300 mag? Confused why you quoted that part?

Beautiful pics Pete thanks for sharing. Some of them actually looked familiar but I believe you are in a more northern area of Co than I have hunted.

I'm about in the middle of the state, but this part of the Rockies is mostly 14,000ft mountains. We have tons on hikers in the summer climbing them.

I like the timber, so I rarely go much past timberline at 11,300ft.

Oh yeah! That too.

That's why I want to go up to the Winfield area. Hopefully more solitude away from the ghost town.

My buddy has a cabin 50 miles east of Alamosa and spent time there during the past several summers. I have hunted areas 082, 083, 85, 86, 861, 80 and 81 over the past 10 years. All those areas are south central. We were supposed to hunt elk in 049 during ML this year but my buddy didn't draw his bull tag so I cancelled my cow tag.

Lot of fighters like to altitude train up there as well Pete. Train at 10,000 then fight at 1000 you won't be able to use "ran outta wind" as an excuse.

That theory doesn't hold for the Broncos on Sunday's game. Talk about running out of gas in the second half.

Unit 85 and the others is where MountainDevil lives.

I'm right at the southern part of 49 on the west side of the river. I'm in 481. So, I go west into those mountains.

The pictures i showed are about 15 miles north on 24 to Clear Creek Reservoir, and then west up into those mountains. It's still 481, but just barely.
