Default CVA -WOLF + 2ff=deer.

My grandson,of which iv'e teaching how to shoot for 4 years, used one of my Wolfs and got a nice doe on saturday!!!!!!
The gun is scoped and he took the deer at at lest 75 yards, one shot to the shoulder. This was in the mountains of Pa. on State Game lands.
It took me awhile to feel safe as to him loading this gun by him self?I drilled it into him to make sure the ball was seated to the bottom!!
I use black powder,in all my muzzleloaders. I like the stink and the smoke, you know! 70 grains of 2ff and a 240 grain Cheap shot sabot equals one nice Pa. doe!
They missed a coyote that they said was as big as a deer. It was running. We also saw bunches of turkeys and a Bobcat, but no other hunters??????
I shot a doe,on friday,on the old gezzers hunt, [we call it] which is 3 days for seniors with a rifle, here in Pa.This was on state lands also, but a different one.
ITS JERKY TIME !!!!!!

Congrats to your grandson. Tell us a little about your harvest. What bullet and powder with your harvest........ another T/C Cheapshot and out of the same 20-pk package?

I made one change at the range when shooting those Cheapshots. I removed the plastic sabot that came with the bullet and replaced it with the MMP three petal EZ load sabot.... improving accuracy by 1-2 inches.

I have 3-4 bullets parked that I could trust in the woods and easily hunt with. But I'm currently married to a pair of XTPs in 300 grain, one being a green Crushed Rib sabot 44-cal and the other a black Crushed Rib in 45-cal XTP Mag. Those marriages also include 85/90 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder.

No divorce proceedings planned for anytime soon...

I changed the cheapshot sabot also,to Harvester Crushribs for 45 cal. bulletts.
Saturday was the end of our, what they call Muzzle loader season.
Flintlock season will come in December 26 for 2 weeks.

Whats pretty cool, about my grandson,is his first name is Hunter! He is the oldest of 3 grandsons. My others are 3 years old and 6 years old. At my age now,i will most likley only ever be able to go with Hunter.
Hunter is now 16+,he is 6" 2 inches tall and weights 245 lbs. He is rated really high in the state for wresteling,on the high school level. This takes up alot of his time plus school,of which he is on high honor honor role.
