Default PR 260 Grain Extreme Elite

This Precision Rifle Extreme Elite bullet was provided by Triple Se7en, for testing. Actual bullet weight was 260.8 grain. Range was 25 yard. Powder charge was 80g Blackhorn.

Watching the video, one sees the front jug fly high high in the sky. The second jug flew up in the air, and away to the side. The bullet was found in the third jug; the fourth, and fifth jug are undamaged. The bullet now weighs 259.3 grain.

I would have expected a little more penetration but the weight retention is excellent.

GM54 I was thinking the same thing. Expansion was excellent also.

It is awful hard for a 'pancake' to penetrate as rapidly is it losing velocity...

Looks much like a parachute if you think about it in the right way.

I think with a whitetail that bullet would be a devastating deer dropper. It may or may not get a pass through but wowsers would it decimate some internals! Heart and lung soup anyone?

All of that would be dependent on velocity (creation of hydrostatic shock) - yet with to much velocity it may not stay together either - catch 22

That's why the DeadCenters were designed. Atleast one reason was for penetration.

It's funny. When a PB expands to a pancake it's worthless.

When another bullet does it its.........good expansion.

For a 40-cal lead sabot/bullet, that looks like a terrific deer bullet for me. Just haven't been able to group them well out of my Vision, beyond 100 yards. Cecil told me that because the bullet is so long and slender, it could be good or just so-so in my 1:28 twist / 50-cal barrel. This particular Knight rifle has been a finicky shooter of 40-cal bullets overall. No issues when I switched to 44/45-cal bullets thou.
