250 Grain MonoFlex ML

The bullet was shot into the standard set 26 yard away. Load was 80g Blackhorn, 250g MonoFlex, short black Harvester sabot, W209 primer. The VIDEO.

The photo shows the jug set about 1/4 second after impact. The bullet went completely through four jugs, and bounced off the fifth. The first two jugs were totaled; fifth jug was too damaged, to use for any more tests. The monoflex bullet was found on the ground, about three feet off to the side of the horse.

Ohhhhhhh dear, and just lookie at them pretty little "cutters" on the ends of the petals! Dat right der is one damaging little bullet!

I love 250 gr. Barnes Expander MZ's, but that Hornady looks spectactular. Based on your videos, I can also say Lehi has some products worthy of my support.

Very nice looking bullet. Would be a good hunting bullet. But they sure like to price them. One site had 50 of them for $52.00 plus shipping. That is not a go to the range and have fun bullet.

cayugad, all solid coppers are expensive. Not a cheap one out there that I have found yet. And you are correct, as far as range running goes, HELL NO. Between the price of BH and these things, nope not for a fun day at the range that's for sure. Shoot, just making sure your rig is right gets into your wallet a fair bit. I'm already having to cage the wife to keep from ripping me a new one for my "toy expenditures" this year. Halfway scared to take her to the range with me lately, afraid she may have an "accidental discharge" in the direction of my big butt! :s6:

That sure did good. :D

The 458 Monoflex can be had for around $40/50. Same bullet with larger OD. http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/Item/0000345010

BTW its not actually copper. Its guilding metal...95% copper and 5% zinc

super_hunt54 07-14-2015 11:47 PM

Tomato Tomato, well damn that just don't work typing it out does it! Guilding, solid copper, pretty much the same thing, Guilding is just a little tougher with the zinc. Just meant no lead.

I've never shot the Monoflex bullet before but it appears very similar to the 250g Barnes in weight, design, make up ect. What are the differences, if any? Does it expand a lower velocities, higher velocities?

80g Blackhorn...

At 26 yard, the MonoFlex 250g bullet went completely through Carpet, shelving, four jugs, and bounced off the fifth. The first two jugs were totaled; fifth jug was too damaged, to use for any more tests. The monoflex bullet was found on the ground, about three feet off to the side of the horse.

The Barnes 250g T-EZ penetrated the carpet, shelving, and three jugs. It bounced off the fourth jug, and was found right there, straight down on the ground. The fourth, and fifth jug were recovered intact. The load was 80g Blackhorn, 250g T-EZ, short black Harvester sabot, W209 primer. The range was 25 yard. The first jug was shredded, the next two were tossed, and mostly emptied.
