Default Knight Elite not so...

I have just bought a new to me Elite 50.

Today I went to the range to shoot one of the most accurate muzzleloader ever made...

Shot BH209 with Win209 and SST200, SST 250, SST300 (the last two with MMP-12 and MMP24).

The best groupe I can make at 110yds was for each bullet, 2.25'', 2.75'' and 2.38''

We ear lots of good thing about this gun but is mine should be consider below average?

Any idea what I should do?

Thanks

It sounds like your holding the barrel when shooting?? Or pushing down on it. That will cause right around 2" groups. You need to hold the stock not the barrel especially with the Elites.

No no, I am using sand bags and let the rifle sit on it. I hold the grip lightly second hand on the rear bag and let the rifle recoil.

Being a 22LR competition rifle shooter, I would say handling technique is ok.

What did you clean the bore with? Some used ML purchases require a good cleaner to remove buildups of carbon, lead or copper.

BTW.... I would be happy with your groups. I shoot offhand mostly.

Not sure about yours since there wasnt much info on bullet , powder , etc but the below link shows what my Elite does , and they are one of the most accurate . You just need to find the right load .

LOL, I would be happy with those groups from a frontstuffer.

That said, you can't just go out and shoot one session and find the sweet spot of a given muzzy, even one of the "most accurate". I usually start at about 90 gr of BH 209, shoot three times, then try 95, 100, 105, 110. That along with trying different bullets and primers.

I think you just have more work.

Might be a stupid question here, but did you try different powder loads? I know my loader tends to spread out a bit with light loads. It really likes them fairly hot. She REALLY likes it hot with the BH209. Pyro RS anything under 105gr (volume) and it looks like a shotgun pattern.

for the 200SST, I shot 100grVol to 130grVol

For the 250, 100 to 120

For the 300, 100 to 110 and stop cause it was an 8'' group.

Maybe I have to much expectation but my MHC shoot under an inch and my Disc Ext 45 does 1.25''.

I'll shoot it again but I was just runing out of idea.

Thanks
