Lehigh Defense CF and XP bullet testing
 

For those asking how the two bullets work in your muzzleloader heres a clip of some testing being done in a Rifle. The velocities are right around ML velocity. I believe these are being shot at 1900fps.

The Controlled fracturing are basically a BLoodline bullet by Knight Rifles. And the XP is the new bullet by Lehigh defense.

That was pretty impressive. It has me seriously thinking about the Bloodline now.

I know it wasn't the motive of the test, but I would love to see what a Barnes would do in the same tests. Just to compare.

Also, what was the fps for those rounds?

1900fps I believe. The .458 Socom is similar to a 4570 I believe.

The box indicated the velocity at 1840 fps. And yes they are .458 bullets used in the normal 45-70 rifle.

Typically I am shooting the 300 CF right at 1900 fps.

The video certainly is more impressive than my humble media tests, although my results indicate the same type of power. One other thing I would add I was shooting the media target at yards and seeing the same sort of results.

The XP creates a far more impressive wound channel than I would have given it credit for in the gel tests shown in this video. In the two media tests that I ran the hydrostatic force at 80 yards proves that it will destroy the internal organs of the chest cavity but this U-Tube video is much more impressive.

Muley, the video is using a .458 bullet like you have but have no doubts that those little 40's would not be just as impressive 2200 fps the load you might want to shoot and still have the recoil that works for you.

I've used Barnes in the past... I like the Bloodlines better.

I've watched that, but i'm talking about all the test in the above video.

One of my favorite medias for shooting at with the Lehigh bullets is a gallon bag of water in front of a good sized piece of cardboard. The petals go through the bag and leave holes around the base hole in the cardboard.

I will likely be using the 250gr Bloodline this year if i can get them to cooperate in the ULA. If not ive got some older Lehigh 275gr 458s to try in the 52 or maybe the 54.

What size are the bullets in the .52?

I can shoot either 458s or 475s but the Lehigh 275gr bullets i have are .458s. The goal is a 2100fps load (just for giggles). The ULA can easily do that with a 250gr and the Knight 52 should be able to reach 2100fps with a 275gr.

This may be the last year for it as a 52cal IF i can get the LRH barrel rebored to 54cal.
