Like Semisane, the down and out store as we call it, I picked up cotton sheets (striped too) for .50 cents each. So they had three and now I have them. Also cotton T shirts, and cotton socks with holes in them. I am so used to cutting a patch for a rifle, I do it almost automatically to size. With the T shirts if they are too thin, double them.

Funny thing, I used to get the Wal Mart bulk bag of patches but realized they were left over material from a T shirt making company. Then our local wal mart realized they were too cheap for a bulk bag and stopped carrying them and brought in some expensive name brand. Last bag of patches I purchased.

I go to Walmart and buy white flannel and cut my own to size. They are the perfect thickness for cleaning your bores.

Regarding patches that are the perfect thickness.

If you wipe the bore between shots as I do, having a patch that fits well - not too thin, not too thick - makes the wiping a lot easier. I suspect those who really hate wiping between shots are using a patch/jag combination that's too tight.

I have jags in three different diameters for my .50's and two different diameters for the 45's and two for the 54's. Then I can use the jag that works best with the patches being used. I just mounted the jags in a cordless drill and turned them down a bit using a file while spinning the jag.

I use a jag to load the bullet..... nothing else. All my patch use is wrapped around a bore brush.

Same here, no need to wipe with the Whites/T7 an Optima Pistol/BH209.

I guess you guys who make your own patches don't put much value on your own labor?

I prefer to do more fun things with my time that make patches.

Like rag on guys on forums.

Like you, I'm retired. My labor ain't worth squat. :s2:
