Default OT: Simple little trick

Guys I know we've all used a contact glue with a screw on lid before. Then when we go to use it again, the lid just happens to be glued to the tube or bottle and you either end up using pliers and busting the tube and throwing the glue away. Well having one of my rare ideas and knowing that most of us use teflon tape on our breech plugs and nipples to prevent seizing, I thought I would use it on the threads of the glue container. Yesterday after using the glue and applying the teflon tape I purposely made sure there was glue on the lid's threads when I put it on. This morning I went to finish my glue job and presto the lid came off with just a little effort. Just a little something to keep in your memory files next time you by contact glue/adhesive in a tube. Next time I am going to try it on that PVC cement. (If I can get the lid off.. )

If that works, you'll be on to something! The lids are always stuck on that stuff! Either that, or its not stuck and hard as concrete.

Good tip bronko!

Thanks Bronko. It's one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas that make you slap your head.

I'll put it in my memory bank, and hope the bank doesn't fail.

And if you're out of Teflon tape, put some soft wax like that in Chapstick or even Vaseline on the threads of the bottle or tube. It forms a seal that keeps the lid from drying on.
