I have a TC pro hunter and trying to figure out the proper way to clean the breech. As you can tell by my questions I am new at this. Can I clean this or do I need a new breech. I checked and they are $50 so I rather clean it. I heard of the 1/8" drill bit but how far are you suppose to go in with it? As you can tell on this picture is this the way they are supposed to look like?

Needs to be cleaned badly. Yes, an 1/8 drill bit will do the job.

I suggest soaking it to soften it up some. I like to soak in plain kitchen vinegar.

You can feel when you hit the end.

What powder are you using

For best results you should run a drill in turned by hand every 10 shots.
Now on mine I have drilled the fire channel out with a #21 drill and thread the load end wit a 10-32 tap and screwed in a vent liner so I can replace just the vent liner when it burns out I also find the vent liner is hardened different and lasts lots longer than the standard BP.

I use what I call a 'Bit in a Stick' turned by hand. In your case you do need a 1/8" drill bit.





You also can find some square shanked drill bits that you can insert in a 1/4" screw driver handle..

I ended up clapping the drill bit on a vise then holding the breech on my hand turned it till it was clean. I have been using t7 pellets but just got me some bh209.

I would get your breech plug drilled and tapped for a ventliner before using BH209.

That should work just fine. My opinion is, as long as you keep doing what you just showed, you will have no problems burning Blackhorn, or any other powder, successfully.
