Rumor mill says don't push that Federal too far with powder. It flies nice and straight, without a real big push. Your current load is good for 200 yards.

Gonna try the 110 gr of BH209 and see what kind of groups I get. If they stay tight, may go to 120 gr max and see what happens. Either way, I will trade a little velocity for nice tight groups.

I do see concern about not getting the pass through BUT, that bullet dumped every bit of its energy into that deer. If there was as an example, 1800 ft lbs of energy, it got it ALL ! As one has already said, if you hadn't hit the shoulder and had been 3" behind it might have been different. IMO I'll take delivering all that energy any time.

yeah a bullet that expands to just under 1" diameter isn't going to have much of a chance to exit in a lot of cases. Perfect bullet performance PERIOD.

Interesting bullet, especially how they supposedly don't open up or fragment according to those that haven't tested them on game.

Lets see, now who was it that claimed they can frag and posted a pic/review from another board?

Oh yeah. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/4208639-post17.html

Hmm who was it that did extensive testing on another board and was one of the first to raise the red flag of poor expansion?

Oh yeah. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/4206008-post4.html

Do you hunt water jugs (or) wildlife?

Just my 2 cents... but if I were hunting water jugs - I would not use the federal to do it with... Performance velocity range is way to high for me.

And this is even after Federal even ditched the first version and brought out the second version - way better bullets on the market.

looks like purdy good bullet performance on an actual animal though.

Do you actually shoot and hunt or do you just Google and regurgitate?

Pine tree hunting don't count either.

The OP's pics look fine. The ones your colleagues have posted do not.

Which one should i consider to be the most accurate description of performance? I had a similar experience with the 285gr Spitfire MZ on media and game. Its why i no longer use them.
