Heavy Lead in the .45 GM/TC Renegade (Range Session #4)

As planned, shot the 465 grain/.451 Lead Flat Nose bullets at 75, 100, and 125 yards today.

The load was 85 grains GOEX FFFg. Here are the results.

75 Yards

100 Yards

(DISCLAIMER: That low shot was shot #4, and I knew the crosshairs were a bit below the bull when I touched it off but couldn't stop the trigger squeeze.)

125 Yards

Happiness is a 2-3/8" five-shot group at 125 yards with slip fit heavy lead in a sidelock.

TRAJECTORY: 2" high at 75 yds. = 2" low at 100 yards = 4" low at 125 yards.

DO I DARE TRY 95 GRAINS?

Yesir, nice work Semi! :)

95gr? Its worth a try if your shoulder is good. :D Doubt you'll gain anything, she's pretty darn good as is.

That is some fine shooting... that heavy lead really flies nice. Are you going to hunt with that dog?

Ed what's the difference between the M98 and the M97? They are basically the same are they not?

Cayugad, I was going to open the season with the Swamp Dragon with the .54 round ball barrel. But the more I shoot these big bullets in the .45 GM/TC Rengade, the more I'm inclined to open with HEAVY LEAD.

Nice looking rifle Ed.

Semisane... I'd let the Dragon Roar!! That is such a cool rifle you built. And a .54 roundball is in a way kind of big lead. You can always let the Renegade come in second. They don't mind.
