I'm guessing you shot that deer on relatively flat ground. I too, prefer to stay away from the shoulders and try to punch em' right through the lungs just as I would with a bow. Every deer that I've ever lung shot ran out of steam pretty darn quick (50 yds. or less) because I generally hunt on a relatively steep wooded hillside and that makes it tough going for a mortally wounded deer. With exception of a few that were on somewhat flat open fields or creek bottoms where the terrain was flat, I can't say I ever had one go a hundred yards that was double lunged. I have had a few go farther if I only caught one lung and maybe the liver because of the angle of the shot. Anyway, you got a nice eating size doe and lost very little meat. Good job!
