Default Bullet question

Has anyone ever tried shooting a short bullet like a 250 gr REAL bullet out of a round ball twist barrel? I used to get decent accuracy with these from a 1:48 twist but not tried them in a slower twist.

Myfirst wife [cancer 10 years a go] shot a Hopkins&Allen under hammer 45 caliber with a 1-56 twist she took several nice bucks and some does with the Real bullet if I remember correctly it was 220 grains with a 90 grain load of RS she could consistanly stay under 2.5 inches @ 100yds with it.
That was with iron sights.

I tried a few of them in a roundball twist but really did not play that much with them. They were not all that accurate as I remember.

I tried the 300 grain .54 caliber REAL in the 1:60 twist of my .54 Great Plains flintlock. A 95 grain load of GOEX FFFg with a wonder wad under the bullet gave me six-inch groups at 50 yards. A 70 grain load gave me five-inch groups.

I have to note however, these were bullets I bought on-line and I found them very inconsistent as to diameter. On some, the rifling barely cut the top band. On others it fully cut the top band and partially cut the second band.

I think the .50/245 Buffalo Ball-et claimed to be for slow twist. Buffalo Bullets have recently been shown as discontinued on the Buffalo Arms site. Now they seem to have been removed from the site.

Hornady says the .50/240 grain PA Conical is for slower twist on their site.

They're for a 1:66 barrel.

Thanks guys. I believe I have a handful of these 250 gr REALs laying around somewhere and also some PA conicals. I was asking about the REALs because I was thinking of getting a mould on Ebay.
I guess I will just wait on it until I get back home and shoot what I have first.
