I'm thinking the fast twist Lyman with some heavy lead.

Why? Because its a fine rifle and a 535 No Excuse will be very accurate and very deadly.

You won't need to track anything and it's respectful to the game.

OK then I would go with the #4 Renegade after elk and shoot what ever I wanted from it - conicals or sabots...

Probably would use a Lehigh .458-305 gr. (45-70 bullet) in a HPH-Orange sabot...

1900 fps. with 1220 lbs energy @ 200 yards...

I could live with that...

Your choices are :
1. Lyman 54 cal 1:60 twist GPR
2.Lyman 54 cal 1:32 twist GPH
3. Tc Hawken 54 cal 1:70 twist GMB
4 TC Hawken. 50 cal. 1:24 twist Sharpshooter barrel
5. TC Hawken 58 cal 1:70 twist
6. TC Hawken 50 cal 1:48 twist
7. Renegade 45 cal GMB 1:28 twist
8. Renegade 50 cal 1:48 twist
9. White English Sporting Rifle. .451 1:20 twist Douglas barrel
10. Pedersoli's Rocky Mt Hawken 1:65 twist
11. Pedersoli Kodiak double barrel 58 cal 1:48 twist
12. Pedersoli's Gibbs .451 1:18 twist

So which one and why ?
I don't see it but I would like to try a Lyman GPH fast twist 50. I would like to test my paper patched bullets in it.

I also don't see the Missouri River Hawken fast twist. Again testing with the paper patched bullet.

For your question. I would pick #4 to shoot my Paper Patched bullets at elk.

I have a couple #7 but they are 1-30 not 1-28. I use them for deer and antelope. I would LOVE to have the chance to shoot an elk with my 409 gr paper patched 45 bullets.

#2 is the fast twist Lyman. I didn't include the Missouri River Hawken because the tc Hawken gmb sharpshooter barrel is the same twist as the Pedersoli's .

Going out on a limb, I would pick the T/C with the sharpshooter 1-24 twist barrel. I have heard they are exceptional conical shooters, so it would be good for deer or elk. Also I like the overall idea of the rifle.

I kinda figured that might be the favorite pick due to the 1:24 twist . I personally like big heavy conicals yet it would be great with some Barnes 290gr tmz's also
