Default My TC New Englander Is Ready

for Ft. Sill muzzleloader deer season on 12 October. The first week is conventional rifle only: no sabots and no scopes allowed.

The gun shoots patched round balls very well. Today i was hitting 3-4 of five clay targets placed on the backstop 77 yards away.

what load are you shooting out of that NE? I have three or four of them. Normally they are good shooters.

A Winchester magnum cap, Hornady .490 round ball, pre-lubed .015 patches and 80 grains of 3F Pinnacle with the fines removed. The ball was seated hard on the powder and then whanged one time using the solid aluminum ramrod.

The new backstops are heavy clay that was wet from a recent rain. Those balls were making 2.5" entry holes in the clay.

I think the Renegade and the White Mountain Carbine are the best two Ml's that TC ever made. Both have their reasons for being top of the list. The Renegade is definatly the workhorse Ml in TC line. If you are wanting a no thrills meat and potatos Ml the Renegade is your answer. The WMC is a horse of another color. Made for Eastern woods hunters. Its perfect for stalk hunting, blind hunting and tree stand hunting. Very lightweight and accurate. Probably my favorite traditional Ml in my inventory.

I've found my NewEnglander also likes the Lee REAL bullets (both 250 & 320gr).
I usually shoot 80gr ffg Goex in the NewEnglander with ball or bullet.
