Ok, so I made a mistake...
and bought a CVA. So what kind should I have bought (don' t bother if it' s a $300 Knight!)? I already own a TC Hawken 50 cal flint that I built from a kit 25 years ago, which still shoots fine, but I fell for the " reliability of an in-line" story and PA has a season for it. Sooo, what' s a good but in-expensive in-line?:)

The Knight Wolverine-- from $199 or so up is a good choice, there are others.

And don' t overlook the NEF/H&R Huntsman. Pretty good value I think. Has a few elements I would like to see improved upon, but overall it' s well worth the money.

RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
So whats wrong with your CVA? I have an Eclipse and it shoots great. I know they
arent the best on the market but I havent really heard alot of bad stuff about em. |
RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
Tell me what you load in it? What bullet, what powder type, and what kind of group do you shoot?

RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
I don' t see anything wrong with cva I have a eclipse mag. and it shoots great and I mean as good as my t/c thunderhawk.I am not saying you could have got a lemon of a gun but I think if so cva will stand behind there product.I called cva about a problem on the eclipse hey they ship the part the next day I think there customer service it o.k.
My eclipse will shoot clover leafs groups at the 100 yard target using a percision QT 40 235 grain poly tip sabot with 110 grains of pyrodex select I was really thinking in selling it Gun it is glass beded has a 3x9x32 bushnell sportview scope on it. The gun sits in my gun safe and when I do decide to shoot it it right on the money The only reason I don' t hunt with it that much I favor my thunderhawk 54 cal.For what ever reason I just like the thunderhawk My other toy is my t/c flinter that I have a lot of fun with The only other gun that if I was looking for another black powder inline would be t/c omega I seen a fellow at the range last week shooting one it did catch my eye seems like a well manufactured rifle but the price for the one I like is about $450.00 maybe if I catch one a little cheaper that someone is getting rid of it for reasons that he is not into it and the price was right I would buy it. |
RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
Mike, I usually shoot Remington Copper Solids and sometimes Hornady XTP with
100 grains of pyrodex, loose powder for playin around and pellets for hunting. As far as grouping, Ive never really shot over 75 yds. very seriously because where I hunt will be 50 yds. or less but I can easily hold 3" groups at 100yds. Anything over 75 yds. my fiber optic dot is bigger than the target.[:o] As far as customer service. After I had my gun for about a year I lost one of the screws that hold the trigger assembly on so I e-mailed CVA and asked where I could get one. They e-mailed me back the next day and said that they were sending me one, free. A couple days later I recieved 2 screws free of charge. No complaints here!!:D I was just curious what was wrong with your gun, maybe you got a bad one, or I got a good one;) |
RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
I have the same question, whats wrong with CVA?????????????????????
I have two,or I have one and my wife has one.both are great little guns,3" groups at 100 yards. I use 100 to 150 grains of pyrodex pellets and 125 grain hollow point power-belts. whats wrong with your gun???????????????? |
RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
CVA' s are fine. The new Optima is really good. Try powerbelts and pellets in yours and experiment in the loads. Some MZ can be finicky like high powers.
Rossi makes a great inexpensive break open inline. We haven' t had a single complaint. Will cloverleaf a 100yds if you do your part. Good luck |
RE: Ok, so I made a mistake...
CVA' s aren' t a bad rifle. For the lower priced ML they are one of the best.CVA like T/C,Ruger and Knight they stand behind their products. If you have problem they' ll make it right.Contact CVA and ask their advice.I' m sure you' ll be happy with the results.
