I forgot to mention. Ruger makes a great in-line their 77/50. It' s does cost more then the 300.00 but has the Ruger quality. It comes in Blue with Walnut stock or a " All Weather" model. There are like 4 different configurations to choose from.Yes they are expensive but well worth the extra money.

you still haven' t said why buying the cva was a mistake ! if you can tell what model you' re shooting with what load and what your problem is you could probably get advice on curing this problem. i own 2 cva' s (optima and magbolt150) that both shoot great . i don' t understand your atitude towards
the brand. there are some cva detractors that hate everything about them and
will never give the brand a fair shake, but many more who love their cva' s .i would
think that you investigated some before buying, maybe you should investigate somemore before giving up on the gun.thats just my 2 cents and i wish you luck

I' ve been using 245 grain powerbelts and 2 - 50 gram pyrodex tabs. I can' t seem to get a good group, very erratic. One shot will be 6 - 10 inches off of center, next one will be dead center. Rifle is being shot off of a solid rest with a 4 power scope. Scope is not loose, not shifting.

Mike

My range work with a new rifle will always involve 3-4 different bullets. My suggestion is to bench rest a couple more bullet styles. If it continues to shoot in the same manner, your scope may be the culprit... not the base or rings.

I recently purchased an Optima and had the same problem. I had to experiment with various bullets and pyrodex loads. Ended up with buffalo bullets being dead on.

I tried the buffalo bullets, as well as TC maxi' s. Finally settled on Powerbelt 245 gr
conical, the ones with the hollow point. Had a 3 inch group at 50 yds.

bowtechgirl, Randy posted the link to my thread about the Huntsman. If you can sort through all the BS that always accompanies my threads :) , you should find out more than you wanted to know. :D

I think your husband will like the little gun. I do, in spite of a few complaints. There isn' t a rifle out there that couldn' t be improved upon.
