I know a few roofers, plus I know a couple of tire guys. I can probably score some lead that way.

Dentist lead is hard lead. Tire wheel weights are mostly zinc and steel now. If you do find clip on weights they are hard. Lead pipe is soft but the joints are somewhat harder in the 9 BHN range. Ron
