A good rifleman always uses a rest if at all possible...

When we dog down here in the Sout, we are using buckshot!!!
Makes it much easier....

Since I most often hunt the prairie, a set of the long Harris bi-pods are the ticket. When on a sit, I try to set up with the bi pods in position. I believe they are 27" long when deployed. Perfect for setting on your butt. With a muzzy, it's one shot game anyway.

I always carry sticks ...............you need them in open country !!!

I'm booked for a month of hunting in Alberta this fall. Open country, long distance shooting. I'll have to get me a set of those shooting sticks for the 270.

We have elk, mulies, whitetails and maybe moose on the agenda. Going to be a great time.

When sighting in I always use a rest. When hunting I try to seek out a rest, but sometimes its not possible. When I have to shoot off hand I dont try to hold steady on the target. I hold low and slowly raise my crosshairs until they center the target then squeeze the trigger. This has always work out pretty good for me.

Yep if you try to hold too long the wobbles kick in. Then all bets are off.

That's not bad for a smoke pole. I don't shoot b;ack powder, but I wouldn't be without my bipod.

I agree a good rest improves the hunting experence. I at one time liked to sit in the sun shining on one side or the other rather than right in my face. Normally about 2:30 PM esdst for just an hour.
