My Lyman Flintlocks are some of the fastest sparkers I own. And when they don't hold powder that is because the frizzen is out of adjustment. I am surprised it did not break flints also. That or the hardware to stock was sloppy. If I had to keep any of my flintlocks in the collection it would be my Lyman Trade Rifle. Just a fast smooth flint lock. Although that Traditions Woodsman Hawken is a sweet sparker too.

It sparked ok, but the powder leaking out was a big problem. Maybe it was just a problem with the LH locks. It was so far off my gunsmith laughed at it, and said it was unfixable.

I could have fitted a better lock to it, but after figuring it out that there was no original gun like I had. I lost interest in it.

This Website is a great resource!

Thanks everyone for the fast response regarding my question. Look's like if I want a Flintlock with a removeable Breech Plug and quality Lock my choices are limited another T/C "Firestorm" or a Traditions "PA Pellet".

Cayugad,

Thanks for contacting RMC Sports. I think they were bought out or merged with another business? If I remember your the guy that helped me out years ago when I was a complete novice just starting out with the Firestorm Flintlock. I remember using powerbelts and 100+ BP loads and wondering why I couldn't get any accuracy, lol. It's alway's nice getting pointed in the right direction especially with Flintlocks, thanks!

I see harvesting a Whitetail with a Flintlock as a challange in the late season and bringing down a mature buck the ultimate.

Well time to go look for a flinter. Wish me luck!
