Back on June 15th 2011 I was Walleye fishing in the "Southtowns Walleye Tournament" and caught a Walleye of a Lifetime, he weighed in at 11.31lbs and was 31" long. I ended up winning 10th place in the contest and was awarded a $500 Prize.
My Buddy who I fished with in the contest also caught a whopper, his weighed in at 11.81lbs and he placed 3'd in the contest and won $2000.00. We had to have them mounted as it could be a long time befor either of us caught another that big. We took them to the taxidernist after the awards pinic back in June of 2011 and just finally got them back last night 12/6/12. He cost me a little over $400 but it was well worth it, I hope you enjoy the work and the fish as much as I do. The Pics dont do the work or the fish justice. Now I have to hang him on the wall with my deer.

At the time I caught my fish it was around 7am, we weighed him on a digital scale and he only showed around 9 1/2lbs. Since a 9 1/2lb Walley is only a $50 fish in the contest we continued to fish untill we had to go in to the weigh scales befor they closed at 4pm. So the fish was on the boat in the cooler for 9hrs on the boat. When we went in to get him weighed for the contest I was shocked to see he weighed in at 11.31lbs. Cometo find out our digital fish scale we had on the boat was off, way off! If I had brought in the fish as soon as we caught him he probably would have Won the Contest. You can put some Spit on the scale and it would make a difference that's how accurate they are. So our Junk scale could have cost us top prize of $3000.00. My buddy who fishes with me also caught a nice one, his weighed 11.89lbs, he won 3'd place.
Now why I say mine should have one is because not only did he lose precious tenths of ounces by being on the boat for 9 hours untill we finally weighed him in, he also was 31" long, my buddy who won 3'd place and had the 11.89lb walley fish only was 30" long.
We bought a new and better more expensive scale. Yes Walleye are a Prized Eating Fish and Oh So Good!

Thats a nice catch. I live next to the Connecticut River and walleye are are nice to catch on the dare devil. Reminds me of haddock it does, nice white flaky meat. Catch em all day if you can. They dont sell much here do to mercury levels but for you a nice mount on the wall. Just another nice memory for you to look back on or on the wall. Take care, .454.
