Okay, I picked up some Speer Deep curl 270gr, .430 cal bullets to try. Thought I would use them is coming rifle season.
I ran the ladder of different charges of Bh209 and could not get the accuracy that I wanted. Moved onto Pyrodex still no success. Right then. Try good old Goex 2f, got love it. Found the sweet spot of 85grs. I'm talking under and 1" at 100yds.
Okay, I'm hitting 2.5" high at 50, 2" high 100 and 4.5" inches low at 150yds. If I plug these numbers into a ballistics calculator using 1500 ft/sec, I'm pretty much on the money.
Its showing 140yard PBR and about 800+ fpe at that distance.
How do these numbers look? I realize numbers mean nothing, but I'm just curious on energy out to 150 yards, because I'm very confident it my accuracy out that distance.

Your velocity/trajectory figures sound about right to me Johnnyo. I've always believed the 270 DC would be an excellent hunting bullet. I've shot them out of my Omega X7 on the range but haven't shot a deer with one yet.
My experience seems to mirror yours. They didn't shoot well at all with Blackhorn, but I got pretty good groups with 85 grains of GOEX FFg.

I have a box of them and gave up on them trying to get them to shoot well.. But I never tried them with black powder. Always Triple Seven or Pyrodex RS. Thanks for the heads up. They will hit the range again.
