Default Big Bullets

I just got back from 3 days of deer hunting in southeast Idaho.I got there sunday night of october 21.It snowed about a foot that night.Next two days we saw over a hundred deer each day ,no horns! the last day we started to see some horns but at 500yrds and more!this country is open sagebrush with quakey pockets and brushy draws with heavy timber up top.with snow you can see a deer a long ways away.We had just seen two little bucks but to far for a muzzy. We finaly pulled up to the last place we were going to hunt.(I only had two hours left to hunt and it was the last day of the season) As we started to cross the fence, we saw four deer watching us.There was a small buck in the bunch.I asked denny how far and he said 125yrds it was a head on shot.I was using my Whites 97 whitetail with 90grns of pyro p and a460gr 500sw pp bullet ala Idaho Ron. At the shot the deer just sat on his butt then made it maybe 10 yrds.On gutting the deer i saw i was off to the right ,but it blew a hole in the rib cage took out the lungs. on skinning it i found the exit in the right ham i dont think the bullet even slowed down I love those big bullets on deer and more so on elk deep creek

large conicals might take longer to get to the target then a 200 grain Whiz Bang bullet, but when they get there... game over. You place them big conical bullets and they will do the rest. Congratulations on the deer.

Congrats on the deer! Any photos of the harvest or that bullet? I need to pick up some big conicals and shoot them, I'm a premium pointy bullet fan but shooting those heavy weights sounds like a lot of fun.

DeepCreek, Man that is great. Those Paper Patched 500 S&W bullets are amazing. Great job. I am goping back up to try to find one for my son tonight and tomorrow morning.
I am planning a elk hunt for the end of Nov. I would love to see an elk smashed with the 500 S&W bullets. Ron
